Mumbai to New York Air India Flight Rerouted to Delhi Following Security Threat
New Delhi: An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was rerouted to New Delhi early this morning due to a security issue. The flight, carrying 239 passengers, made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, where all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
“Flight AI119, scheduled from Mumbai to JFK on October 14, received a specific security warning. As per instructions from the government’s security regulatory body, the flight was diverted to Delhi. Passengers have been safely disembarked and are now at the terminal,” an Air India representative stated.
The aircraft was moved to an isolated section of the airport, where a bomb squad and security agencies carried out extensive checks. Authorities are adhering to standard safety measures to ensure the security of everyone involved, said a senior police official.
“The plane is currently at IGI Airport, with all necessary safety procedures being meticulously executed to protect both passengers and crew,” confirmed the police officer.
Air India has yet to provide additional updates, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are collaborating with security teams to assess the threat, while passengers and crew await further instructions.
